My 2012 NFL Mock Draft
1st Rnd: Vontaze Burfict ILB/ASU or Top Best OG/OL
2nd Rnd: If we take a OG/OL in the 1st rd. Expect this pick to be a ILB or a NT. Like T'Amu NT/Washington or Poe NT/Memphis. Possibly Dont'a Hightower ILB/Alabama. Or best ILB that fits that Steeler mold.
3rd Rnd: LaMichael James RB/Oregon or Lamar Miller RB/Miami
4th Rnd: Another OL whoever is the Best Available
5th Rnd: I like a Safety at this spot.
6th Rnd: Probably another corner like A&M's Terrence Frederick CB/TexasA&M
7th: ***Idk
7th: ***Idk

Dont Criticize me! LoL
I made this in the library after this afternoon’s class. Im not even at home to do enough research on a full Mock Draft. But i’ll make plenty more as we get closer to this April’s Draft.
Seriously!?
People read Mock Drafts for the sole purpose of seeing what the Steelers might look like in 2012, this is just vague speculation. Check some of the others on the site, they are researched with some detail and substance…and then you add that you did it in what seems like a rush in the library?
I can pick names at each position and put them on here also.
Just curious
Why do you want a RB at all? Let alone in the 3rd?
In my opinion, we are set at that position.
I'm open to drafting a RB
RB by committee is the way to go, and LaMichael James has serious skill. Mendy may not be the same after his injury, Redman isnt proven as a starter, and it always pays to have insurance

Gambling that Batch will be back...
…at full strength, and keeping a close eye on Dwyer and the new kid, I don’t know if we can afford anything higher than a 6th round pick for a RB, with so many OL and DL holes to fill.
Maybe a shopping trip to the UDFA outlet might be a better solution.

Complete ACL’s are amazingly hard to fully recover from and your chances of a re-tear are increased. I have a mate who was a promising rugby player have ACLs derail his potential career because after the first complete tear, he reinjured it about 3 more times
I just think it is always smart to stockpile skill players, if they have good enough talent

Duck running back
LaMichael James would be a great selection, but doubt if he would be available.
Having watched him the last 2 years from Portland, I could envision him catching
screen passes, something obviously missing from our offense.
Plus he’s suprisingly durable.
And this disclaimer; I am not from Oregon, certainly not a Duck fan, preferring to root for the downtrodden Beavers.
However I appreciate his talents and confident he would be an additional weapon for Ben.
If you guys are going back to the power run game...
How are you gonna do a screen with a RB?

balanced offence
We have a great QB and some very exciting receivers. It would be crazy to go to a power running game at this point in time. I think what people are looking for is a bit more balance to the offence and the ability to run the ball in the RZ if it is necessary.

Screen to a RB?
Interesting idea, maybe our new OC will know.

Be nice to the Beavers
Their HC was great when he coached in Winnipeg.

beavers love wood though
so they often get frazzled

Is that because beavers are often very hairy?

i dont see this being very realistic
miller and hightower are both commonly being mocked to go in the first. hightower is actually a pretty common choice as our first round pick
I don't think Poe would be hanging around at the bottom of round 2 either

Poe
He is rising across every mock draft. He definitely will be drafted in the top 15~!
Gimme Poe or Hightower!
We’ve been so spoiled with superior run defense for so long. Let’s keep it going for another 10 years! Nothing worse than the opposing team gashing you with big runs…
Nothing.

Im going to attempt to make a draft, I am a chiefs fan but I am a huge Steelers fan as well
1) Vontaez Burfict ILB Arizona State- Pure explosiveness with a firery attitude, would make a good linebacker corps great
2) Kelechi Osmele OL Iowa State- A huge powerful mauler that can fit into guard or tackle. Fits into the power scheme that Pittsburgh runs
3)Josh Chapman NT Alabama-Chapman adds youth and force to a line that could be losing anchor Casey Hampton
4) Harrison Smith- S Notre Dame- Smith had an off-season but is still very much athletic and capable of better. Reports are that he has been impressing from the end of the season and could move up at the combine
5) Vick Ballard RB Mississippi State- Hardworking, tough between the tackles, with good burst.
6) Josh Norman CB Coastal Carolina- Tall, athletic cornerback who has fluid hips and could go much higher than this if he keeps performing well.
7) T-Bob Hebert OL LSU- Smart multi-talented lineman who can fill in as a swing player.
Like I said I love the steelers but I don’t know as much as you guys do, so i’d love some insight, and maybe I can come up with an even better one with your input.
Thanks

I like your draft
Especially the first three picks
I just am of the opinion that we need to load up on the defensive and offensive line in this draft. So instead of picking up a RB, S, and CB in rounds 4-6, I’d want to pick up another DE, OL, K in that order. Just my opinion. We can get RB and S in next year’s draft, even if we need RB, which I’m in a wait to see mode. If mendenhall comes back and has a 1000 yard season next year and barron batch lives up to his promise then we won’t need a RB. But I’d rather get these lines fixed first because we aren’t going anywhere if the line isn’t good, its been put off far to long and we’ve won without it, now its time to fix it.
I love the Steelers.

Uh
I REALLY don’t see Dont’a Hightower being around at pick 2.24.
