2011 PRO BOWL A TRAVESTY

For anyone who had stomach enough to sit for three hours and watch the pitiful display put on by the NFL , I give you credit youre braver than I am . The NFL'S version of the all-star game has gotten worse the last few years , but yesterdays game was the icing on the cake . The players after the snap of the ball would come up out of their stance and touch each other on the chest with no blocking or rushing the passer of any kind . On top of that you have supposedly the best defensive back in the game in Darrell Revis running stride for stride with Brandon Marshall , headind into the end zone the ball comes overhead heading for Marshall's hands and Revis just drops his arms , slows down and lets Marshall catch the ball . There were many plays in the game where no effort was being given whatsoever by the offense or the defense . Its a disgrace to the fans and the league as a whole . The league needs to step in and tell the players this is not a scrimmage or flag football . If youre selected to play you must be willing to give reasonable effort when youre on the field . Otherwise , do away with the game completely and just name an all star team of the leagues best players and leave it at that . The fans who vote these players in deserve better than the awful display that they witnessed on Sunday .

The best part about yesterday's game

U think Commish Goodbells had anything to do with this transformation over the last couple years

especially this year? After all, we are talking about someone who hates to see a good hit, a QB to ever get touched, and let the game be dictated through half ass calls. Watched for about 1/2 hour and it was embarassing to watch. Dont know if anyone on here ever watched womens lingerie football, but these girls can hit and they let em play. I think this league would run Goodbells out of town if he was the commish. Within the next couple years the NFL pro bowl will have the players wearing belts with the flags on them.

Well, I have to say that

unlike last year I quite enjoyed it. It got much better as the game went on, with Cam Newton actually getting sacked a couple of times and some genuine run blocking. But it’s never going to be an ordinary game, because nobody wants to get hurt at the Pro Bowl, nor should they.

Next year leave your TV off. If enough people do that it will send a message. I just don’t get people tuning in, knowing perfectly well what they are going to see, and then complaining that they saw what they expected…

I really enjoyed it too.

I’m glad I didn’t turn my TV off after the first few minutes, because I would have missed some really good football and seeing my Steelers having a great, great time.

You're looking at the future of the NFL, unfortunately.

It already has reached the point where players take regular season games “off” and only give their best come playoff time. Believe me, if the NFL could find a way to fake the intensity, and if every game could be as high-scoring as this Pro Bowl, you’d never see real football anymore.

The rules are making it that way anyways

You can’t hit anyone anymore and you can’t break up passes. If you breath on a receiver (Ravens mostly) they call PI.

Its the pro Bowl!

not the Super Bowl. If you are looking for real football you were a week too early. The guys are on vacation. The one thing they don’t want is to get hurt. Why were you expecting a NFL game? I don’t think it has ever been a NFL game.

I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.

The pro bowl has been and always will be a joke

I rarely watch any of it, but I’m not bitter about it being that way. The pro bowl is a paid vacation as a bonus for having a good year. It’s just a reason for players and their families to hang out and have some fun. Nobody on or off the field looks at it like a competition that is worth getting injured over.

it isn’t?

i don’t understand why players should be expected to go balls to the wall. theyre on vacation ffs. its just a game where players have some fun. you can’t expect them to pretend it’s a real game when there is no incentive to win whatsoever, and plenty of risk involved in treating it like a normal game.

…did u mean Fitzgerald??? cause I swore those 2 are both afc!!! n e way I think the game was alot better than past years!! it looked like Ben and the guys had fun….so I’m happy!!! they needed a vacation

Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn’t Marshall and Revis have been on the same team, namely the A.F.C.?

I have no problem with the game

I dont mind seeing a game where the game is more relaxed. I think it would really be wrong to expect these guys to go full speed and risk injury on a game that means nothing. If we did I expect we would see even more players drop out of the pro bowl. I found it entertaining to watch antonio brown play corner or drew brees do that extra point. As long as its once a year I dont care.

I thought Antonio Brown was going to break it.

I loved it

Did it seem to anybody else that the Steelers players were all hanging out together.

Did it seem to anybody else that the Steelers players were all hanging out together.

Now why would they do that?
