Ziggy Hood
Why did we draft this guy again? He is strong as hell but can not get off a block to save his life...he played much better when he backed up Smith a few years ago and replaced him when he got hurt! I don't know if he will be a good replacement for Smith at this point, we might have to draft another lineman soon. He wasn't playing against their best OT either.

He's gaining weight and looking slow
Wonder if he can replace Snack. This league and all of the passing is making it hard to argue for a huge contract for a NT who plays only 40 percent of the downs anyway.
I thought I read somewhere that he is playing hurt
Lets hope thats the case. WIll be interesting to see if ASmith returns next year.
Stay thirsty my friends.
no please. Smith do not return!
We have this sort of nostalgia for our beloved Steelers players. But, we have to realize the time when it comes. Cowher used to do this to us remember? Let the veterans go and sign a big contract somewhere else and it would tear us apart. But, he was always right. He and Donohoe knew when they were on their last contract and wouldn’t pay big bucks. Now, we don’t do this and it comes back to haunt us. Hines, Smith, Farrior, Snack, etc. Whether it’s injuries or plain bad play….it’s painful to watch. But….I do love seeing them retire a Steeler. Anyway, I think it’s time to see Smith and some others retire.
DE in the 3-4
He’s not really supposed to get off blocks in this scheme. His job is to keep blockers from getting to the linebackers.

Re DEin the 3-4:
I know what Ziggy’s job is and you are talking about on running plays here…watch the game again and see when we were trying to get pressure on Tebow what Ziggy did…nothing! On numerous plays if he could have beaten his man he would have gotten to Tebow.
From your post, I didn’t realize you were talking about pass rushing. I don’t record the games, and right now, have no intention of seeing that one again. Such an abrupt season end.
I had read some reports that Ziggy was playing injured for much of the season. We may never know, but the scheme may have been to let Tebow throw, just don’t let him run. Your guess is as good as mine.

I cannot wait to never see your name again. Douche.
HERE WE GO STEELERS!
"Our Father, who art in Pittsburgh, Football be thy game. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, at Heinz Field as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, a stellar D and forgive us our bogus fines, as we (sorta) forgive Goodell who trespasses against us. And lead us not into defeat, but deliver us a Victory. For thine is The Steelers, the power and glory of climbing the STAIRWAY TO 7."

One of the great disappointments of a football game is that the cheerleaders never seem to get injured.
Ziggy was very good this season, we barely saw a drop off at all from Aaron Smith to Ziggy. Remember when Woodley was fully healthy and was tearing QBs limbs off? You seriously think he can do that without elite play from the end on his side?
Ziggy was at worst an above average end this year, and at best was impressive.
Why is the "football" not round and thrown around?

I disagree. He’s below average. The kid can’t make plays in 3 or 4 man rushes. And I don’t see him often winning doubles or even singles.
I know PFF isn’t perfect, but it means at least something when you come in dead last for your position by a considerable margin. He’s nothing like Keisel or A. Smith.

Blow the team up now! Keep core players, trade off the ones that you can get value for, and let go of big contracts for useless players, ie Ziggy Hood.
Seattle got a new coach and GM last year, blew up the team and are actually not that far off from being highly competative. There’s an example right there, of what can and needs to be done, just dont be so attached to players. You want a winner all the time? Do what winners do all the time, constantly restock the shelves, and come up with new ways to get it done.

The Steelers do not just blow up the team, they reload.
Get ride of Arains, he couldn’t come up with plays to help and injured Roethlisberger. Find replacements for old players

Exactly. What the heck does a Browns fan know about building a successful franchise.
