Steelers Injury Report: Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman and Rashard Mendenhall all miss Wednesday

Greg Bartram-US PRESSWIRE

The Steelers rested three running backs in Wednesday's practice session in preparation for their Week 8 game at home against Washington.

It must have been a lonely practice for the Steelers running backs unit.

Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles), Isaac Redman (ankle) and Jonathan Dwyer (not injury related) all missed practice Wednesday, presumably leaving just Baron Batch and fullback Will Johnson in the backfield.

While it's not surprising Mendenhall is missing Wednesday's session, it's worth noting the team isn't listing him as having missed due to his knee. He injured his Achilles in Pittsburgh's Week 6 loss at Tennessee.

Redman was also hurt against the Titans, as the game of Running Backs Roulette continues in Pittsburgh. Dwyer got the Week 7 start against Cincinnati after having been deactivated in the team's previous two games. He rushed for 122 yards - the most of any Steelers running back this season - in the 24-17 win.

Troy Polamalu and Marcus Gilbert were ruled out early this week, and it doesn't appear there are any other definite absences expected as the Steelers prepare to take on the Washington Redskins at 1 p.m. ET in Pittsburgh.

On the positive side, it appears center Maurkice Pouncey (knee) will play in Week 8 after missing Week 7. Doug Legursky started in his place, and put together a fine performance.

Outside linebacker Jason Worilds (illness) did not practice Wednesday, and Adrian Robinson (concussion), kicker Shaun Suisham (ankle), and LB Brandon Johnson (hamstring) were limited.
