An ode to Steeler Fever, who is proud to give away free ice-cold Dwyer Koolaid to SteelerNation. :)
There has been some good discussion the past week about where the faith/praise should be in relation to the Steeler's vastly improved running game over the past few weeks.
I had originally argued that Mendenhall is still the best back on our roster, and that the majority of the improvement in the running game was due to several points. I have summarized these points and added to them below.
1) Obviously having a feature back is leading to vastly more success. RB by committee has yet to be successful this year.
2) The best way to get a young offensive lineman/new offensive lineman grouping comfortable is run blocking, more dictating your will, less responding to the passrusher's game. Adams > Gilbert? Colon > Kemo? I think it is evident at this point in time.
3) Confidence in an improved line leads to better performance by the RB and less hesitation in the backfield
So, those three points being stated, take the poll below and decide why the run game has improved.
Does Mendenhall have the same performance as Dwyer with all the different factors? Does Dwyer's focus on making one cut and running North and South make him more effective than Mendenhall in the same situation? Who becomes the starter/do we go back to running back by committee once Mendy and Redman return to full health? When is Dwyer going to score? Does Mendenhall make it back to 100% before Dwyer becomes the "Spare Tire/ School Bus?"

Improved run blocking by the OL, Colon is an animal, and Gilbert's killing spree has been halted by Detective Adams (19 votes)
A feature back allows the RB to develop rhythm and comfort with how the OL is blocking. (4 votes)
