Steelers Injury Report: Marcus Gilbert out Friday, no other surprises

Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIRE

Marcus Gilbert was downgraded between Thursday and Friday, but other than that, there weren't any surprises heading into Week 10.

It wasn't a strong possibility, but offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert practiced on a limited basis Thursday, giving out the impression he may have suited up when the Steelers take on the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 10.

The fact he didn't practice Friday suggests he won't be playing in Week 10 now, which isn't too terribly surprising. Gilbert was injured during the Steelers' Week 6 loss at Tennessee and Thursday was his first practice since then.

Wide receiver Antonio Brown didn't practice (ankle) and isn't likely to play. Same thing for linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (hamstring) and safety Troy Polamalu (calf).

Running back Chris Rainey (rib) practiced fully for the second straight day. We speculated about the possibility of Rainey playing in this game essentially as a decoy, and an astute reader pointed out the possibility of Rainey actually being totally healthy, just giving off the impression he's hurt as a diversion. Considering the large amount of attention his injury had during the Steelers' Week 9 game against the Giants, the Steelers would be right to list him on their injury report.

Kicker Shaun Suisham (non-kicking ankle) and Jonathan Dwyer (quadriceps) both practiced fully for the second consecutive day.
