Most reports to this point have indicated Roethlisberger's shoulder, which he was favoring after the hit (a sack on third down).
It's unclear whether Roethlisberger will play Sunday, but Steelers coach Mike Tomlin left the door open, saying he's played Roethlisberger before without him having practiced. Tomlin didn't mention anything about his ribs, but wasn't asked about it, either.
Roethlisberger had injured his shoulder during the 2011 season, but Tomlin said the recent injury is not related to the old injury, to his knowledge.
Leftwich's last start came in 2009 when he was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Leftwich struggled under the same pass rush that gave Roethlisberger problems when he played. Roethlisberger had 33 snaps, and Leftwich had 32. Both completed 50 percent of their passes, and Roethlisberger hit Mike Wallace on a seven-yard pass for the Steelers only touchdown of the game.
