Terrell Suggs says "it's a little disappointing" Ben Roethlisberger won't play Sunday

Justin K. Aller

Outspoken Ravens defensive player acknowledges the absence of Roethlisberger, as well as Hines Ward and Ray Lewis, changes the rivalry between the two teams a little bit, but not enough to suggest it's less than the best rivalry in football.

The famed Steelers/Ravens rivalry is already down Hines Ward (retirement) and Ray Lewis (injury).

Now, with Ben Roethlisberger out, there's a certain flair missing from the first of two scheduled games in what's known as the best rivalry in the NFL.

And that isn't lost on verbose Ravens DE/OLB Terrell Suggs.

When asked if his heart was broken because he won't get to face Roethlisberger on Sunday, Suggs said, " It's not really broken but with a rivalry game you need all the pieces for the game to be how it should be. It's a little disappointing but you have to move on."

Suggesting he has to move on when his team is the one with the advantage does make it seem as if Suggs isn't as happy as he may have been with the man he's tormented over the year (Roethlisberger) not in uniform.

Suggs has been both hot and cold against the Steelers in recent showdowns. He was held without a sack in Baltimore's 23-20 win over the Steelers in Week 9, but harassed him with five hits on Roethlisberger and 1.5 sacks in Pittsburgh's 13-10 win in in Baltimore in 2010.

Incidentally, that was the last time the Ravens have lost in Baltimore, a streak that was extended to 15 games after their 55-20 dismantling of Oakland in Week 10.

The game is being played in Pittsburgh, and obviously, without Roethlisberger, the Steelers have enough to worry about facing the Ravens in Week 10 rather than think about their Week 13 trip to Baltimore.

Suggs, at least, understands how big of a game this is for both teams, regardless of who's playing.

"This is the game the whole NFL is waiting to see, the most heated rivalry in sports."
