Steelers Injury Report: Antonio Brown, Troy Polamalu do not practice, Marcus Gilbert limited

Jim O'Connor-US PRESSWIRE

The injury report shakes up a little bit in the early practices before the Steelers take on the Chiefs in Week 10.

Injured right tackle right tackle Marcus Gilbert practiced Thursday for the first time since missing the Steelers' last three games with an ankle injury.

While he was only limited, it does bring into question whether Gilbert will have a job upon his return. Rookie Mike Adams has been playing well in the last three games as the Steelers have turned into one of the more dominant running teams in the game.

Not to suggest Gilbert himself is responsible for the team's lack of running success, but the team was averaging less than 80 yards a game when he was starting. They're over 140 a game without him.

Chris Rainey, who was injured in Pittsburgh's 24-20 win over the Giants, practiced fully Thursday. RB Rashard Mendenhall was limited in practice, but isn't expected to play. It hasn't been ruled out, however. Jonathan Dwyer, who missed the Giants game, was a full participant in practice.

The Steelers defense will likely be without safety Troy Polamalu for the fifth straight game, as he did not practice Thursday, and has not played since the first quarter of the Steelers' 16-14 win over Philadelphia in Week 5.

Wide receiver Antonio Brown missed practice, and isn't likely to play in Monday's game against Kansas City. Linebacker Stevenson Sylvester missed practice as well, after he missed last week's game with a hamstring injury.

The Steelers host the 1-7 Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 10 (Pittsburgh Steelers tickets).
