Week 10 is upon us and the Pittsburgh Steelers are 5-3 and have a Monday night matchup at Heinz Field vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. Last week, Isaac Redman and Mike Wallace were the Steelers fantasy stars. This week look for Ben Roethlisberger to explode against the Chiefs woeful defense. Quarterbacks are averaging 21.39 points per game against the Chiefs in standard scoring Yahoo leagues and even woeful quarterbacks like Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh Freeman, and Carson Palmer have torched this defense. The only quarterback who did not score at least 15 points against the Chiefs was the elite Baltimore Ravens quarterback, Joe Flacco, who could only muster 3.88 points against them.
When it comes to wide receivers, the Chiefs actually do a decent job stopping them. They are giving up the 18th most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year. However, they have struggled to contain wide receivers with blazing speed, such as Denarius Moore (16.6 points), Vincent Jackson (18.6 points), and Julio Jones (22.8 points). Look for Mike Wallace to have a big day vs. this defense. The Chiefs are also average against Tight Ends, giving up about 7 points a game to them.
While they handle WR's with decent competence, the Chiefs struggle mightily against running backs, where they currently rank 6th worst in the NFL. In six games this year, one running back has been in double figures vs. the Chiefs. Look for Isaac Redman or Jonathan Dwyer (whoever gets the start) to eat up this Chiefs defense.
Now, here are some projections for this week.
