A while ago, Ryan Clark claimed that Steeler fans have been spoiled with success. As a Steeler fan, I have seen this to be true on occasion, but no more so than now. The Steelers are 7-6, but people are acting like the sky is falling and calling for Tomlin's head on a platter. I don't understand it myself. Maybe we are spoiled. Maybe we are so deadly afraid of disappointment with football because we have gone through 20 years of it with the Pirates. Either way, everyone needs to calm down.
It is times like these that bring me down to earth and make me realize that football is just a game. Why do we get so stressed out about it to the point that our very well being for the rest of the week rides on if the Steelers win on Sunday? Why do we worship these guys like gods and treat football like a religion? It is baffling. Once in a while, we all need to slow down and re-assess our priorities. I think now might be one of those times for Steeler fans.
