Last Hour before Finals

There were always times I wish I were that guy. You know that guy who was just so smart that he would wait until an hour to study before the final and still pass? This guy would party all semester long, give half-way effort through out all his test. You know that guy, some of you may even be that guy. Everyone else in the class were either flunking or sweating it out with whatever grade they had but they worked for it. They worked hard for it, they dotted every eye, crossed every T on their reports. They double checked their test twice before turning it in to make sure there were no silly mistakes. They attended study groups and sacrificed their spare time, pretty much almost all of their spare time just to get a passing grade (in college its a C or better, grad school its a B or better) in their class. Only to have to watch that guy crack open the book for the first time an hour before finals and still pass the class.

Are the Steelers that guy? All year the Steelers have been giving half-way effort and not paying attention to details. Even at the start of the season (or semester) with Ben's telegraphed pass that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown to end the Denver game. Then Antonio's fumble against Oakland that effectively ended that game. Who can forget the special team blunder and another interception that turned into 3 points that cost them the titans game. Next, the bad punt coverage against Baltimore that ended up being the only touchdown Baltimore scored all game. The Steelers must have really partied hard before the Cleveland game because they gave away an unprecedented 8 turnovers which is equivalent to taking a test hung over with no study time whatsoever. You just hope you got one of the questions right. The 'backwards' pass that took the Chargers game out of reach and another Antonio Brown fumble and another Ben Roethlisberger interception that ended the Dallas game. The Steelers clearly have talent, at least that is what we all think. If the Steelers don't make those one or two crucial mistakes in each of those games their record is drastically improved.

So here we are an hour before the finals. Can the Steelers sober up enough to pass the final test? Can they put it all together in one game to at least pass the class with a C (for the Steelers making the playoffs is just a C grade for the season). Are they that guy or they the other guy who craps the bed and just fails the class. We'll find out Sunday. It is truley a playoff game, loser is out and the winner is in. I believe the Steelers will not fail the class this year. But whether they pass with an A (Super Bowl win) or a B (run in the playoffs) is a huge stretch.
