Steelers Injury Report: Mike Adams, Keenan Lewis, and Mike Wallace sit out Thursday practice

Jason Bridge-US PRESSWIRE

One of the Steelers flickers of hope fizzled out on Thursday, adding another name to the "did not participate" list.

The Steelers returned to practice on Thursday as the prepare to take on the Cleveland Browns in the final game of the regular season. They did so without several of their key players.

Mike Wallace (hamstring/hip), Keenan Lewis (knee/hip), and Curtis Brown (knee) missed their second consecutive practice as they all continue to heal from injuries. None of them are expected to miss Sunday's week 17 divisional matchup, however that has not been confirmed, nor denied by head coach Mike Tomlin.

Another player that added his name to the "sit" list was Mike Adams. Adams had been dealing with leg issues forcing him to miss the past 4 games. He has been able to participate in practices on a limited basis for the past two weeks, but he was shut down completely on Thursday. His chances of getting on the field for one more game in 2012 are slim, if none.

Troy Polamalu sat out of practice, also, but only as a precautionary measure. Polamalu missed several weeks this season dealing with calf issues, but is fully expected to start against the Browns on Sunday.

Recently promoted Marshall McFadden dealt with a slight abdomen injury, and was limited in practice.

Rookie right guard David DeCastro tweaked a hamstring, but fully participated in practice and is expected to make his third straight start after missing the first three quarters of the season recovering from knee ligament damage.

Even though most of the names on Thursday's injury report are there for rest, more than emergency; the Steelers cannot help but look forward to getting through their final game without having to add any more names to the list.
