With the 2012 regular season in the books the the inevitable slaughter of countless Head Coaches and GM's today, one name on the the chopping block ended up being the former Steeler Ken Whisenhunt. What do you guys think? do we make room for him on the Steelers coaching staff? We have a lot of house cleaning to do and I know we have some new coaches that should be given some more time to gel in the burgh, but I've always been a fan of Whiz and think we were a much better team from a leadership standpoint when he was around.
Whisenhunt had 4 of 6 seasons (45-51) with winning records with Pittsburgh West, w/ this past year being a disaster dispite a 4-0 start, but with the problems that plagued the Cardinals I'm not sure many coaches could have done much with that circus. He did make it to the Superbowl and lost to a superior team (the opponent seems to slip my mind right now) as well as another playoff season in 2009.
Whisenhunt had tied much of his fate to the acquisition of free agent Kevin Kolb, and it's not difficult to see how that was a disastrous decision. Since signing Kolb, Whisenhunt has been forced to play Kolb, John Skelton, Max Hall, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer at quarterback, and really, none of them were any better than semi-mediocre.
What about the other coaches that got the boot today? So far I've heard of
The full coaching staff of the Bills
So what do you guys think? Should we make room for a comeback and where would we fit him in?
