It's the second time the kicker has won the award, both coming after game-winning field goals (Week 5 vs. Philadelphia).
It's been a glory-filled season for Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham.
Having only missed one kick in 25 attempts this year, Suisham is perfect (23-for-23) on kicks from 49 yards and in. He drilled a 42-yarder at the end of regulation to defeat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13, and for that, he's been named the AFC Special Teams player of the Week.
Despite Pro Football Talk's claim, this is the second time this season Suisham has won the award, picking it up after drilling a game-winner against Philadelphia in Week 5.
Suisham was 3-for-3 against the Ravens, hitting from 46, 41 and 42 yards. He's made his last 13 kicks.
Suisham went from possible camp cut to veteran likely to stick with the club for the remaining two years of his contract with his performance this season. Financials are the only issue for the eight-year veteran, but considering he's been able to master the tricky kicking environment at Heinz Field (perfect at 11-for-11), he just may not be someone the Steelers can let go.
