Tomlin's mantra is, "next man up". Perhaps it should give him pause for a little self-reflection. This team is loaded with talent, is very deep, and has solid offensive and defensive schemes. Unfortunately, they never seems to be ready to play. They lose to teams they should clearly beat;. This is the hallmark of a team not ready to play. Even when they win; it is usually after a rocky start. There is an abundance of penalties due to lack of focus. There are missed blocks, dropped passes, and mental mistakes galore. This year I have seen the sloppiest performance of a Steeler team since pre-Chuck Noll days.Team motivation is clearly the responsibility of the head coach. Pithy sound bites, and post game acceptance of responsibility are too little, too late. It is time for Coach Tomlin to get ahead of the problem; and the problem starts with him.
