6 Round NFL Mock Draft

AS you all know, I normally don’t mock trades but this time I am going to. However, it is not going to be for the 2nd pick in the draft because I think the Rams are going to take Matt Kalil. However, I am going to have the Redskins trade up to the #3 spot and give up their 1st, 2nd, and 5th round picks.

The Bills first round pick is supposed to be Melvin Ingram and the Packers pick is supposed to be Whitney Mercilus. Don’t know how I messed that up

This draft would be amazing

but from what I’ve been reading I don’t see how Poe falls to us in the 2nd, or James in the 4th. I’d take them in a heartbeat if they were. Good job.

definitely pretty generous toward the Steelers

if we pass on Poe in the first we’ll have to make sure we take Ta’amu in the second. James could fall quite a bit if he doesnt have good workouts.

I have seen Poe falling to the Steelers in the 2nd in a ton of Mock Drafts

Here are some possible reasons why:

He is not like Phil Taylor who had a great combine. Instead, he will probably have an average to bad combine.

There is a very good FA class of NTs this year so some teams could fill up there needs

A lot of 3-4 teams are shifting towards more athletic NTs that can play 3 downs and Poe is not that

Ultimately, I think Poe will go around 15 to 20 in the 2nd round and I think if he is there between 15 and 20, we should trade up to get him

I don’t know what your hearing but everything I read says he has a quickness a man his size shouldn’t have. I haven’t seen too many of his plays live but of the 10 or so he looks quick to me. I think he is going to have a great combine which validates him as a first round pick based off your 1st and 2nd point.

Huge fan of the Steelers. (that includes "Steelers West")

KICKER ???

IMO we definitly need to draft a Kicker this year, but looking at Blair Walsh’s stats, he doesnt seem to jump out as a reliable rplacement for Suisham. Not being a total draft junky, nor following college footbal at all, are there any other prospects that we should be looking at ?

Greg Zuerlein

is a favorite of mine. Steel34D brought him up a few weeks ago. he has an injury history which is why no one is talking about him, but he finished this past season without any issues and had a phenomenal year.

there is no way

Poe will be available for us in the second round. He’ll be long gone.

A question for draft guys. I’ve heard that new collective bargaining agreement won’t allow us to get 1st and 3rd round picks for Wallace if someone outbids us, only 1st round pick. Is it true?

If we have to part ways with Wallace, which picks would be ideal for us?

I think if we draft a legit OT

We probably push Gilbert into G.

Very wise.

I should try that, haha.

I have two problems

Vinnie Curry isn’t going in the first round and Bruce Irvin isn’t going in the second. Vinnie Curry is good but not first round good and Bruce Irvin is a pure pass rusher.

Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Lloyd, Andy Russell, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene, Andre Reed and Jerry Kramer

At 245

I don’t see him as big enough to survive as anything more than pass rush specialist. Nor do I think he could add enough to be able to be a full time starter. 2nd is to early for a 1 to 2 down player in my opinion

I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.

I dont think he's that big

He looks way skinnier than that.

Like Aaron Maybin?

Not sure many teams would like to try that again

Aaron Maybin who was the Jets best player on the front 7 this year

And picking someone in the top 15 of the draft is much different than picking a guy like Bruce Irvin in the 2nd round

David Harris?

Pretty sure he was there best player in front 7.

11tackles and 6 sacks not great but he did prove to be there best pass rusher.

Huge fan of the Steelers. (that includes "Steelers West")

He can't play the run at all

and did have a tendency to dissapear in some games. But when decided it was go time there was no one that was going to stop him

As I said in the MTD link

A+ for Baltimore.

Might want to add RB to that list as well. And we are in dyer need of a KR/PR guy.

I really really really don’t see Poe lasting until the second. As for Mike Adams? He is definitely intriguing, but I’m not sure if he’s got the work ethic to make it in the NFL. If he does, however, he’s basically a Max Starks clone which ain’t too shabby. Not crazy about the James pick. He pretty much needs a hole the size of a semi in order to gain any yardage and while he has great cutback ability and a very good burst, he’s another steve slaton. Big play potential, but not really what we need

by NoVAPensFan on Feb 9, 2012 4:53 PM EST reply actions

I would rather have Glenn or Hightower in the first. I think Glenn can be a really good guard in this leage and would have some position versatility. I think Hightower would be a pretty good fit for our defense and if the FO likes him I think they will have a hard time not taking him.

by steelerintexas on Feb 9, 2012 5:50 PM EST reply actions

Only problem if you take Hightower in the first is you realistically will use the first 2 picks on the defensive side of the ball. We have to get a legit replacement for Hampton. So if we dont take Poe in the first we most definetly need to take Ta amu in the second. But with are O line issues we cant not take an Olineman in the first or second round. It just doenst make sense to take Hightower right now. Unless we get someone for theOline in FA

by msoberl on Feb 9, 2012 6:30 PM EST up reply actions

We will take the best player on the board and I feel Hightower would be a better player at that spot than Adams. Im still thinking Glenn might be a good option though.

by steelerintexas on Feb 9, 2012 8:20 PM EST up reply actions

I’m not big on Hightower…basically just a 2 down player. Adams had a great Senior bowl week and game… was a favorite of Mike Mayocks. The choice between Glenn and Adams would be intriguing…Glenn has position flexibility in that he can play guard which the Steelers love but he may be gone by #24.

With Rooneys comments about the offense after the season and his firing of BA, we have to think the OL will be a priority in the draft. That doesn’t mean we will reach in round 1 but if we go defense in round 1 we will probably draft a couple OL in the next few picks.

trade down?

I know we usually do very little trading on draft day and pick BPA…that’s fine, especially with how well we usually draft.

But, maybe this year we either get more aggressive and trade up (like we did for troy & Santonio) or trade down and acquire picks. I wouldn’t mind if we traded down and ended up with 3, second round picks or 2, seconds and 2, thirds.

Does anyone know what value we can get (based on the trade chart) if we traded #24? Maybe we get a teams 2013 first round pick and we then trade that for two second round picks in 2012 or 1 second round pick and 1 third round pick in 2012. Ideally, I would like to trade back but still have our first pick in the second round be in the top ten picks.

Any thoughts on relaistic sceanarios where we could trade back and end up with multiple second round and/or third round picks?

by SteelerMike on Feb 9, 2012 9:57 PM EST reply actions

Glad you asked

The Steelers could trade with the Eagles. The Steelers give up their 24 and 88 to receive the 46, 51, 114. The Eagles can draft a WR and LB in rd 1 to both be starters. I believe the Eagles need to make a splash this off season to help fans regain confidence in their team.

by Mike Liv on Feb 10, 2012 12:57 AM EST reply actions

I would take Glenn over Adams and not even think about it.

I don’t get the obsession with replacing Hampton. He doesn’t even play that many snaps any more. NT is not the position of importance it once was. If the value is there, though, sure: Take the big defender.

I’d like to see some pass-rush talent in the first 5 rounds, whether at LB or DL. I liked the Worilds pick but he and Carter haven’t shown much, and we saw this season what happened when Woodley and Harrison were injured. Can’t afford not to have pass rushers.

Not bad.

Not sure if Poe makes it all the way there in the second to the Steelers though. If not then Ta’amu who you had going a few picks later would be a nice selection. I like the Adams pick and either Glenn or Hightower would have been fine with me there who were still on the board. Cole is a good selection in the third to replace Farrior. James is intriguing in the fourth. I might have went with Whitley to groom at FS. Not a fan of Walsh but I can understand why you took a kicker there and taking another OL in the fifth is fine with me.

Proud fan of Pittsburgh's professional sports teams and the Pirates too.

The first 3...

Would be outstanding for the Steelers. It would fill 3 major areas of needs with players who could step in and contribute. I would take Brandon Brooks OG in Rnd 4. Hey I didn’t see or I missed Trumaine Johnson, Safety, Montana – thought he was a stud? (Along with Markelle Martin & Geo Iloka- I would take any of those 3 from Rnd 4 on.) Also like M Egnew TE 6’5 240- needs to beef up a bit but a another skilled receiver to add. Is everyone convinced that we HAVE to take an RB in Rnds 1-4 now for insurance?
