It's difficult to come up with new ways to write "Steelers free agent signs with Arizona."
This time, it's CB William Gay signing with former Steelers coaches Ken Whisenhunt and Ray Horton. CBS Sports is reporting it's a two-year deal, but financials weren't released.
Some previous Steelers who left for the desert in free agency: OG Alan Faneca, LBs Joey Porter and Clark Haggans, NT Nick Eason and CBs Crezdon Butler and Bryant McFadden.
Horton was the Steelers secondary coach through the 2010 season before accepting Arizona's defensive coordinator position in 2011.
Gay, a fifth-round pick out of Louisville in 2007, played well in 2011 after a rough 2010. His two interceptions both came in the 4th quarter of close games, and he covered receivers both in the slot and on the outside.
Keenan Lewis, who replaced Gay outside while Gay moved inside in nickel situations last season, is likely the starter opposite Ike Taylor heading into training camp.
