Not sure if this has been touched upon, but with the current talent at LB and on the D-Line would it make sense for us to transition to a 4-3 defense.
I thought about this because of our need to get a true 3-4 nose tackle and the lack of depth at that position in this years draft. The one player who truly fits the requirements for a 3-4 NT seems to be Dontari Poe. After his combine performance there's a good chance that he won't be available when we pick. Taking that into consideration along with the talent we have at LB would it make sense to deploy a 4-3 this year? I think we have the talent to be an extremely effective 4-3. Now we would need depth at DE but maybe that could be addressed through the draft. I could see Ziiggy, McLendon, and Hampton rotating at DT and Keisel and Heyward at DE, again depth needed at DE. At LB we would have Woodley, and Harrison on the outside and Timmons manning the middle. I know this may be blasphemy, but I believe we could make this work and work extremely well. Thoughts?
