Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey appeared on 93.7 The Fan, talking about the sports he played growing up with his twin brother, Dolphins C Mike Pouncey, and Steelers RB Chris Rainey.

It was a light-hearted, humorous interview, pierced often by Pouncey's laugh and self-deprecating humor.

Pouncey on playing basketball as a kid:

"We were both captains, they didn't want us on the same team...they didn't want two tall guys on the same team....I never took Rainey, man, he shoots too much for me.

"All he does is shoot, he would shoot from half court."

After blaming his mom's genetics for what he called a lack of vertical jump, he discussed his track days in high school.

"We did the 'Big Man Relay.' It's tiring, I don't know how those little guys to it."

The conversation switched over to former Steelers NT Chris Hoke, and his recent weight loss.

"He's so small now, I didn't even recognize him."

When asked if Pouncey will get bigger or smaller when he retires:

"I'm going down, I'm gonna ask Hoke everything he did."

What about Steelers NT Casey Hampton?

"I dunno, that's my boy, he might go up, though."

Pouncey on a recent competition among QB Troy Smith and LB Lawrence Timmons on who can throw a football farther. Smith won the competition even after an impressive display by Timmons.

"I had Timmons the whole time, he didn't pull through, so I'm going with Bryan (sic) Leftwich next time."

Pouncey also suggested he may win a Big Man Throwing contest, even after admitting he can probably throw a ball 30 yards. Odds for the winner of that contest (involving linemen only) would have to be DE Brett Keisel. And as soon as someone makes this happen, and we hear about it, we'll post odds.
