Half of America smokes pot. So its fair to say AT LEAST half of the players currently in the NFL have smoked pot or continue to. The fact Adams smokes is not the concern, or at least not to me. I do think he's an idiot for not even being able to mask the fact the he smokes for the NFL combine, considering its the most important "test" of his life. But whatever, we all make bad decisions.
All this nonsense can go up in smoke if the Steelers 2nd round pick can do one simple thing asked of all NFL players. Work hard. Thats it. Sounds easy enough, right? This kid was born with the talent and size, he just needs to put in his hrs in the weightroom & classroom. I think Adams can be a top 10 left tackle in the NFL by the end of his 2nd season if he stays on the straight on narrow and has time to put on some weight. His biggest concern now is he is a bit skinny for an NFL tackle, he needs to bulk up significantly. That and he's never played a snap of NFL football.
So thats one way to look at it. Hes the starter at LT for the next 10 yrs...OR...He could turn into Jamaine Stevens and we can watch the egg drip down Colbert's face. But that doesnt seem likely, the Steelers conditions imposed on Adams pre draft serve as evidence that he is willing to meet their criteria and do what it takes to be an NFL player. Judging from Colbert's past, I have no reason but to expect good things from Adams. And from the Steelers. And Amurrica.
