Key: Active, (Inactive), [Practice Squad]
We're halfway through the Carolina game, and these guys are running out of time to make their cases. We are also running out ways to make all of our favorite guys fit. Unless somebody steps up in this last few minutes, I've got one answer:
Against Neal's better judgment, I think we use a PS spot on this kid instead of Toney Clemons. Charlie is way too consistent.
Somebody has to sit when Mendy is ready to go. If Hampton has stayed healthy, it could be DE Al Woods.
FB: Will Johnson = 6(2)
Fullback, how I've missed you...and yes he can play a 3rd TE when needed. Yes he's raw. Yes he'll keep getting better.
Depending on the offense's performance without Saunders, we may only go with 2 active TEs. Mostly it leans on Will Johnson's play, but Pope's performance determines who the second TE would be. I don't like the effect 3 active TE's have on this roster, but we always have 3, so I am trying to make it fit. Considering this set is only used in goal line, short yardage downs, we can go extra lineman.
Williams has made catches in 3 of 4 games. Gilreath had one good game. Clemons has disappeared. Maybe he hits the Practice Squad, but I don't think there is room for him, like there wasn't for Mortty Ivy.
DeCastro on the Practice Squad? Wha? No. He will be IR'ed per the new half-year rule. I think Beachum is an inactive, in his spot on the roster. When DeCastro returns, he swaps places with Beachum. When DeCastro is back to 100%, Essex becomes inactive to give a game hat to DD.
Hampton seems ready, at least ready enough to be the back up. Woods spot is in danger because of Mendenhall, if Hampton stays healthy.
ROLB: James Harrison, Chris Carter = 35(6)
After Sean Spence was carted off the field, Brandon Johnson hopes came alive. If Spence is lost for the season, Johnson will be needed to help in the middle, unless they bring back Mortty Ivy, who I think could hold down the 8th Practice Squad spot, while Beachum waits for DeCastro to return.
Golden's performance and flexibility gets him on the 53, though it will be up to him to win a game hat. Terrence Frederick, getting burnt for a score, has not impressed much this preseason. Victorian has a pick already, and has shown good instincts on multiple occasions.
I know I'm in the minority on the D.C-S. I'm just not convinced that Will Allen is still playing at the level we are accustomed to seeing him play. I give my nod to the young guy. Golden can be the 4th safety, or the 5th CB. He's shown he can handle it in game situations.
P: Drew Butler
LS: Greg Warren = 46(7)
Suisham, because there can be only one. Sorry; I mean, there's only one left. Butler, because I didn't see Kapinos at all. Hard to win a fight you didn't fight. Warren, because.
