I became a fan of the Steelers in 1975, and continued through good times & bad. But finally- after getting Tebowed last year- it was time to move on, as I had to admit that the franchise was no longer the franchise I supported for so many years. I am still a Steeler fan, but not the same type of Steeler fan I once was. I'll skip games now. I won't root for certain players just bc they are on the team. I won't watch bad football, even if it involves the Steelers. I watch the games that interest me- High quality football games; I do not watch the Patriots play the Dolphins. I'm probably more of an NFL fan now than just a Steeler fan. Getting Tebowed was a culmination of things that turned me off about today's Steelers. I may come back someday- if the franchise reverts back to what it once was. That SB against the Cards- it would have been cool to see Warner win that game, even though it would have been at the expense of the Steelers. That guy (Warner) was cheated out of a SB win against the Pats. Santonio Holmes- pfff- gimme a break! Getting Tebowed- pffff- gimme a break! The weird Ambassador to Ireland thing- pffff- gimme a break! And there's about a ton more of those I could mention. Sure- All you "diehard" Steeler fans are gonna be like "Ohhh you're not a real fan", or "Ohhh how could you say those things", etc. etc. etc., but ya know what? I'm way better off having changed my approach to the Steelers, you should try it! The difference between me and so many other Steeler fans out there? I had the ability to walk away & stop wasting so much time on a franchise that's not what it once was. Now I'm a "light" Steeler fan, a light Giant fan, and a HUGE anti-Patriots fan. I also despise certain teams & players & coaches, mgt., etc., such as the Ravens, the Harbaughs, Mike T. from the Jets, annual loser teams like the Browns, Bills, etc. etc. etc.
So here's to a good season of football! The Steelers won't be winning the Super Bowl, and hopefully the Pats won't win either- even though they will go 14 -2 or something. I'm hoping it's a good, "rootable" team.
PS- Why are so many Steelers getting hurt all the time? Seems like they are in the top 10% of teams when it comes to that. They may wanna look into possible reasons, such as the training staff, etc. Then again, maybe there's nothing you can do when you have L. Woodley blowing out his hammy doing a stupid sack dance. Gimme a break- make the sack & get back in the go____ huddle & do it again, and then celebrate all you want when the year's over & you have WON the SB! But not a second sooner! Ugh!
