After practicing on Tuesday and reporting to the press that all went well with his ailing knee , the bottom fell completely out on Wednesday . Reportedly , Harrisons knee was swollen and aching to the point , he didnt even make an attempt to practice . One has to really wonder if James Harrison's career as a Steeler is close to being over . Harrison had what was called a minor arthroscopic procedure on the knee on August 15 causing him to miss all of training camp , preseason and now the first three games of the regular season . After all that time , Harrison is not close to returning . At 34 years old , the sad reality is Harrison's career may well be over . Time will tell .
