Levi Brown injury: Recently acquired offensive tackle isn't likely to start against Ravens

Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

For all the discussion and hype about the acquisition of Levi Brown, he didn't even make it onto the field. He suffered a triceps injury during warm-ups, and Kelvin Beachum is expected to start in Week 7 against Baltimore.

That didn't last long.

The Steelers went out to make a move at offensive tackle during the bye week after inconsistent play plagued the unit during the first four weeks. Levi Brown was brought in, much to the chagrin of Steelers fans.

Brown injured a triceps - no word was said on whether it was the right one, the one that cost him the entire 2012 season - during pregame warm-ups. If the injury is connected to the same muscle that kept him out of action all last year, it's indeed a tough break.

If it's the same injury to the left side, Beachum can be expected to retain the starting position for the foreseeable future.

(Update: Post-Gazette reporter Ray Fittipaldo reported it is to his right triceps)

According to Alan Robinson of the Tribune-Review, it seems one of those options is on the table.

"Beachum is expected to start again when the Steelers play Baltimore on Sunday at Heinz Field."

Uh-oh.

It'd be a horrible break for Brown, if that is, in fact, the case. It's somewhat ironic the Steelers are importing injured offensive linemen, one season removed from a time in which the offensive line couldn't keep the same five players in the lineup for consecutive games if their season depended on it.
