But he oftentimes can find a way to spontaneously make it enjoyable.
Take Wednesday, for example. As reported by Mike Reiss of ESPN, Belichick cracked a joke about Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. When asked how the Patriots might prepare for him, Belichick responded, "Let [left tackle Nate] Solder take some plays back there at quarterback, let him be the scout team quarterback for a few plays. That’s what it’s like."
Solder, the Patriots' 6-foot-8, 320 pound left tackle, would likely be less of a quality fill-in, but by all means, if it takes time away from his preparation at left tackle (he's having an outstanding season), and even Tom Brady's preparation under center, it's a move BTSC strongly encourages Belichick to try.
As long as they're reaching, though, the idea of Brady looking to duplicate the 93-yard run by Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pryor is also a good idea. And the question didn't go unasked by local media. "I’m sure they’re not worried about us doing that," Belichick said of the Steelers possibly expecting Brady to break Pryor's NFL record. "He doesn't run often, but when he does, it's usually the right play. It certainly catches the defense and our coaching staff by surprise when he does that."
