I believe that the Steelers will have a top 12 pick in this years draft. Here is my mock draft as well as free agents findings.
In free agency, the Steelers should pick up Paul Soliai. He would be perfect for NT and get this run defense back on the top of the rankings. At 6'4" and 340 lbs, he would play NT and McClendon can move to his more natural position of DE. A base line of McClendon, Soliai and Heyward would be very good.
Round 1- Cameron Erving, OT, FSU- Erving is a beast and has a great deal of athleticism. He plays in a respectable conference and has done well against players like Vic Beasley out of Clemson. The Steelers can rely on him for years to come and would be a great blindside protector for Ben.
Round 2- Louchiez Purifoy, CB, Florida- This pick may be a reach, but Purifoy is a stud. He has good size at 6'0 ft and 190 lbs. William Gay has been somewhat productive this year, but he's not the answer and not to mention Ike Taylor is already in his 11th year in the league.
Round 3 Compensatory Pick via Mike Wallace- Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers. This guy is a stud. He has great size and is exactly what Big Ben and the Steelers need in the red zone.
Round 4- De'Anthony Thomas, OW, Oregon- Thomas is a speed demon. He would be a great change of pace back and will return kicks and punts. He can also catch the ball quite well which would make him an OW.
Round 5- Nickoe Whitley, FS, MSU- This guy plays recklessly and is willing to throw his body around. He's a big hitter and has the potential to be Ryan Clark's successor.
