My Turn at a Mock

Alright, I guess by now we can start to look for the future.... With this mock, I'm assuming we'll lose our 7th Rounder for the Tomlin fiasco....

st Round: Louis Nix, NT, Notre Dame, 6'3" 340 lb. - Let's slowly get back to Steelers football. The most important part of our "good" years, included Hampton up the middle, making it nearly impossible to run on us. Plus, a Nose Tackle is more than likely someone who could start Day 1, which we could use at just about any position next year. Doing this would allow McLendon to shift to DE, as I don't see Keisel or Hood returning. Other Options: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M, 6'5" 225 lb. - Beast, makes Johnny Football who he is! OR HaHa Clinton Dix, Safety, Alabama, 6'1 210 lb. - Best Safety in class, we've been ignoring this need for long enough.

nd Round: Loucheiz Purifoy, CB, Florida, 6'1", 189 lb. - " If " we have Ike back next year (which would be smart) Purifoy can play slot corner in Sub Packages. If Ike is not back, this guy has the potential to be an immediate starter. Plus, we've shown we don't mind drafting Gators! Other Option: James Hurst, OT, UNC, 6'7" 310 lb. - He kept Clowney quiet in their matchup, could Mike Adams???

rd Round: Anyone out there want to trade us their 3rd for Landy Jones??? Helloooooo?!?!?!?!?!?!?

rd Round (Comp): De'Anthony Thomas, RB/WR/RS, Oregon, 5'9" 175 lb. - A lot of you probably won't like this pick, but I'm so tired of our boring Offense. Another Playmaker is a must in this draft, and going Defense with the first 2 picks, this would be a great 3rd. Not to replace Le'Veon Bell, who's obviously the Feature back, the NFL has shown us you need a variety of RB's. Plus, we'd finally have someone who could get AB off the field for punt returns, we cannot afford him taking those hits. Other Option: Shayne Skov, LB, Stanford, 6'3" 244 lb. - Let's get this "BUCK" LB position under control.

th Round: David Yankey, OG, Stanford, 6'5 315 lb. - 2 Stanford Guards are better than 1! This is a big reach as some could view him as a Tackle, which would make him drafted higher. Another option (which I would like) is to try out Pouncey and Vellasco at Guard, I believe good old Fernando deserves a shot back and would love to find a way to have him and Pouncey both starting. Until he got hurt, I believe he was our team MVP this year. Other Option: Devin Street, WR, Pitt, 6'4 190 lb. - Big Receiver & PITT boy rolled into one, BTSCer's Rejoice!

th Round: Trey Burton, FB/TE/WR/H-BACK, Florida, 6'3 240 lb. - Another Gator! Burton was recruited by Urban Meyer as a Spread Offese QB, but when they went to a pro style offense, he was moved to an H-Back/Swiss Army Knife/Wildcat type role. We've shown in the past to like Former QB's and this is a guy who could contribute in special packages until he's groomed more as a blocker. Think of him at Wildcat QB with De'Anthony Thomas as the pitch back........ TOUCHDOWN!

th Round: Tom Hornsey, P, Memphis - Ray Guy Award Finalist, has a strong leg. Probably stupid to draft a Punter with all of our team needs, but I cannot keep watching guys shank the ball and cost us field position. Other Option: Mister Cobble, NT, Kentucky, 6'0" 340 lb - If we don't draft Nix in the first, here's a NT we could groom for the future, plus he has a fantastic handle.

th Round: Forfeited, Thanks Coach!
