Will the onside kick be the next casualty of NFL safety rules?

I heard that Larry Fitzgerald got hurt on an onside kick yesterday. The NFL has changed the rules for kick-offs so that many are not returned thus they think making the game safer for the players and making Bears return man Devin Hester a forgotten man in the NFL.

If you look at it from a true safety perspective the onside kick is way more dangerous than kick-offs and most other plays in the game. Do you think the NFL will go as far as to eliminate the on-side kick? Have they thought about it and just think it changes the game too drastically because a trailing team would have to score and kick-off to come back in games, they wouldn't benefit from onside kicks?

This one interests me and i would like to hear your thoughts and if you have heard anything from the league on this.
