There's all this talk going around about how this team that started out 0-4 didn't deserve to be in the playoffs. It is a perfectly reasonable stance when you think about how bad this team was at seasons start. The talk of us being too old or slow and how Todd Haley was a joke and Tomlin was a bush league cheater.
But the fact of the matter is that parity trumps all ideas of deserving or not deserving. Every team deserves to be in the playoffs and every team doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs. To say the steelers didn't deserve to be in the playoffs is to me, people trying to find excuses to make the bad taste of Bill Leavy and Ryan Succop go away.
If they didn't deserve it, are you really saying the chargers did deserve it? The team that was playing for everything in its own stadium against a team that wasn't and was mostly backups and you had just beaten their starters a few weeks ago?
Did the giants deserve to be in the playoffs in 2011 with a 9-7 record? Or the ravens last year?
One could make the argument that the steelers were the most likely out of all the AFC WC competing teams to get to the SB.
If they don't deserve it cause they started 0-4 then you're also saying they didn't deserve it because they dug themselves out of that whole to get to within a chiefs win for a playoff berth.
Did the 2010 7-9 seahawks deserve the playoffs? Say whatever you want about this teams issues( and there are issues) but don't say they didn't deserve the playoffs. Too much ridiculous stuff has happened for one to say that.
