I thought it might be fun to look at a trade down scenario to see how it might shake out.
The scenario here is that KC wants to draft a QB but doesn't do a trade down in the first. Since they're projecting a 3rd round comp pick. They package their 2nd and 3rd rounders for our 1st round pick. To even out the trade value a little let's say we also trade our 7th for their 5th. Having the second pick on day 2 could mean some productive horse trading but let's say we go ahead and pick.
2.2 -Jonathan Cooper - OG, UNC - Perfect LG for Zone blocking scheme. Why not have the best OL in Football?
2.16 - DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson - Total [ackage receiver with good hands, routes, and speed. Big enough to be an effective blocker
3.1 Jamie Collins, OLB, Southern Miss - Very productive pass rusher with some possible position versatility.
3.17 - Jonathan Cyprien, S, Florida International - great small school Safety prospect.
4.17 - Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA - RB with potential to grind some tough yards but good fit in a zone scheme
5.1 - A.J. Klein, ILB, Iowa State - ILB Buck prospect
5.17 - Michael Williams, TE, Alabama. If you're temped to compare Lacy to Bettis, this is his Breuner. Capable pass catcher but great blocker with good size.
6.17 - Zac Stacy, RB, Vanderbilt - Double dip at RB. Producing back to back 1100 yard seasons at Vandy is pretty special.
7.comp Brodrick Brown, CB, Oklahoma State - Interesting prospect who took a step back in 2011 but has potential.
