FA linebacker Dan Connor will visit #Steelers. Was cut by Cowboys Monday— Dale Lolley (@dlolleyor) March 12, 2013
Connor, a sixth-year player out of Penn State, backed up fellow Nittany Lion Sean Lee in Dallas last season as an inside linebacker in the team’s 3-4 defense. With the Cowboys switching to a 4-3 alignment, they cut Connor loose.
The Steelers restructured the contract of outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley, and the question was whether it was a move to bring in any one specific player, or just to have some space if there is anyone of interest floating around the next few months. Connor could be an immediate contributor to the Steelers defense.
A solid tackler, Connor’s biggest detriment has been injuries; but depending on health, he could be a more athletic alternative Larry Foote. He would come with a risk, but it could be a tempting one for the Steelers to take.
