I'm not surprised by the many mock drafts that have the Steelers selecting defensive players in the top three rounds. As I view this team our biggest need is offensive skill players. Our defense was #1 last year in yards and not much has changed with defense the only starters gone are Harrison and Hampton, but we've played well with out them.
I would take the same approach that the Colts did last year in the draft - give your franchise QB some weapons. There are a slew of top talents that fit into the 1-3 rounds: TE - Eifert, Ertz, Reed, Kelce, McDonald, Escobar; WR - Patterson, Allen, Hunter, Hopkins, Woods, Dobson; RB - Lacy, Ball, Lattimore and Bell (4th round). Give Ben some options on offense. When we load the offensive skill positions we are now set at offense for the next 3-4 years. OL is young and should be vastly improved. Ben is hitting his prime. Add to Brown and Sanders at WR. Add a couple of TE's as Haley's offense is more effective with good ball catching TE. I'd recommend getting Bell (RB) from Michigan State or Lattimore in the 4th round to secure the RB position as both of these guys have proven they are strong zone blocking runners with size to pound inside.
Load up on offense and then use the later rounds to fill defensive rolls. With an effective offense our defense improves - the D can take more risks because they know the offense can and will score. Just my two cents.
