It is at that point in the pre draft build up that I am just mocked out. I have read too many, written too many and argued too many points about things I really have no control over. I kind of wish I could wake up tomorrow and the draft be here. With that in mind this will be my last effort at deciphering the brain trust that is the Steelers Draft War Room.
I will save you my take on the strengths and weaknesses of each selection as there is more than enough out there from people far far more knowledgeable than me. I am not an expert ... I just pretend to be in my spare time!
I will however indulge myself with not one, but two final attempts at a draft, giving people even more opportunities to tell me what an idiot I am. Now there is value for you. So first one based on needs/BPA as well as team visits, meetings and website rhetoric:
What I think the Steelers will do Mock
1.) Jarvis Jones OLB Georgia
2.) Roberts Woods WR USC
3.) Le'Veon Bell RB Michigan State
4.) Shamarko Thomas S Syracuse
5.) Zac Dysert QB Miami (Ohio)
6.) Will Davis CB Utah State
6.) Jeff Kline OG Kent State
7.) Vince Williams ILB Florida
Personally I don't like the idea of Jones in the 1st, Bell in the 3rd nor the selection of a QB. But basing these selections more on the players the Steelers are looking at rather than the ones I want. Which leads me to ....
What I would do
1.) Jonathan Cooper OG North Carolina
2.) Jonathan Franklin RB UCLA
3.) Phillip Thomas S Fresno
4.) Aaron Dobson WR Marshall
5.) Tharold Simon CB LSU
6.) Joe Kruger DE Utah
6.) Kenjon Barner RB Oregon
7.) Michael Mauti ILB Penn State
If this was a perfect world mock I would have had the Steelers trading down and picking up say an extra 2 and 4 via a trade with the Falcons or 49ers. I would love to have had Stedman Bailey WR West Virginia as my WR but I cannot see him being there in round four and for me Thomas and Franklin have the ability to be contributors from day one and have to be drafted.
What say you ?
