Not in a box.
Not with a fox.
Not in a house.
Not with a mouse.
I do not like him them here or there.
I do not like him anywhere.
I would not like Jarvis Jones.
I do not like him, To-My-Bones.
First my apologies to Dr. Seuss for butchering his timeless classic.
I know Jones is a poplar pick with many but I don't like it and here is why.
First, What does it say about Jason Worilds? If Worilds is not ready and Jarvis is going to come in and take his spot right off the bat then we wasted another high pick (2nd rounder in 2010). If Worilds is ready then are they unhappy with Woodley - I doubt it, they restructured his contract. Either way in my opinion if this was the most pressing need with the first round pick we are in deep trouble.
Jones is 24 years old. If he sits and learns for two or three years then he is 26 or 27 when he starts and then he is up for a new contract so then what we give a long term deal on unseen potential, probably not and he walks.
There are questions about his health. True I'm quite sure he has been checked and double checked but still......
Best Player Available? Ummm.... Sharif Floyd
We just lost our #1 WR, our #1 RB and our #1 TE is injured and probably won't start the season and may never be the same player again.....so really we use pick 17 on defense?
Look I hope he proves me wrong. I'll gladly eat my words if he racks up double digit sacks and pulls in rookie of the year and defensive player of the year honors. But if I was picking - it would not have been Jarvis Jones - come to think of it I'm surprised the Steeler FO hasn't called me by now for advice.
