Steelers select Le'Veon Bell in the second round of the NFL Draft

Bell is something of a surprise in the second round, but for the second time today, the Steelers have added a running back.

The Steelers had been wining and dining Le'Veon Bell over the course of this offseason.

There was a reason. It may be unclear what that is, but there was a reason.

The Steelers selected Bell, the 230-pound supposed power back out of Michigan State in the secound round, the 48th overall pick.

Bell joins Jarvis Jones as the Steelers 2013 Draft Class to this point. The Steelers had running back targeted this offseason, clearly. Earlier in the day, the team announced it had come to terms with free agent running back LaRod Stephens-Howling on a contract.

Bell joined Wisconsin's Montee Ball at the top of the Big 10 rushing charts this past season. He is the second running back taken in this draft, with Cincinnati having added North Carolina's Giovani Bernard earlier in the second round.

The Steelers have a glut of running backs, but the question is how good will any of them be. Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman were both given tender offers in restricted free agency. Adding in Stephens-Howling and now Bell, as well as third-year back Baron Batch.
