I asked for help coming up with the list for this post with absolutely none offered from the readers. Thanks. So left to my own devices, this is what ya get...
Not a lot of pretty faces. Not any household names. Not a lot of huge contracts. Not a lot of glory. To paraphrase Alex Karras in the movie Blazing Saddles, these guys are the pawns in the game of football. Highly necessary, but not often prized.
I don't know too much about these guys, even when they were playing for our beloved Steelers, I paid them little attention as I was enraptured by Swan's spectacular catches or Hines Ward, James Harrison and Mel Blount laying suckers out. It seem like the only time I notice a Guard or Tackle play is when he messes up, if a Guard makes a great block to keep the QB clean or one that opens up a gaping hole for a RB, guess who get's all the credit for the magnificence of the play? It sure ain't the Guard.
I am going under the theory that Tackle and Guard are fairly interchangeable so we will pick four total from this list and figure out where they are gonna play during training camp. Thanks for you participation in this polling process.
When making this decision (and I hope no one takes it lightly) please remember the difference in the era's of play and difference in talent of teams and NFL in general. When stating your reason for or against your choice try to explain which would add the most value if drafted as a 21 yr. old rookie today.
