Jarvis Jones injury: Steelers report Jones' test results are negative

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

After initial reports of "inconclusive" testing, Steelers OLB Jarvis Jones was given the most positive negative report in all of football.

The news on Steelers outside linebacker Jarvis Jones turned out to be good after all.

The word "negative" actually means "positive" in the world of injured athletes.

Steelers PR manager Burt Lauten tweeted tests run on Jones came back "negative," after earlier reports indicated results were "inconclusive."

Jones fell on the football after being tackled on an interception return. It was the third (at least) splash play Jones has made this preseason, even if the interception was overturned on a penalty.

Seems like the word "inconclusive" was used in a manner indicative of perhaps tests not having been completed yet, or maybe completed but not yet read. ESPN.com's Scott Brown reported specifically that X-rays were negative, but if there were other tests in the mix as well, the Steelers were not worried about their results either.

It doesn't appear anything now will stop Jones from being on the field when the Steelers kick off the season hosting the Tennessee Titans Sept. 8.

That is definitely a positive thing.
