Steelers vs. Panthers final score: Pittsburgh goes winless in the preseason after 25-10 loss to Carolina

Grant Halverson

Steelers end preseason exactly how they started it; with another loss.

There was first half Landry Jones. He threw a touchdown pass on the Steelers' opening drive, and if not for two Markus Wheaton drops, may have had some pretty outstanding statistics.

Then there was second half Landry Jones. He threw three interceptions as the Steelers failed to score a point over the final two quarters.

He was similar to the Steelers' 2013 preseason slate of four losses; inconsistent with questionable decision-making, and walked off the field seeming more like a work-in-progress than a legitimate participant.

While the Steelers failed to win a preseason game for the first time in an eternity, it did show once again a few individual highlights as most of the game was played by back-ups vying for roster spots - the linebackers in particular. Wide receiver Derek Moye had an outstanding game, and, if the Steelers take five receivers on this year's team, he's No. 5.

Undrafted free agent Alan Baxter made a strong case as to why he needs to be kept. Back-up tight end David Paulson scored the Steelers' lone touchdown and had four catches on four passes.

The Steelers have hinted at making cuts well in advance of the league's 6 p.m. ET deadline Saturday, and it didn't seem like anyone else really stood out enough in this game - or in this preseason - to merit a spot they wouldn't otherwise have.
