Last week after the debacle of a game we had I made a post about reasons for hope. One of the few reasons was that the Titans might be better than we originally thought.
Yesterday the Titans had the Texans beat until the final seconds of the game, and ended up losing in OT. If a team that takes a playoff favorite to task for 60 minutes isn't pretty good, I'd be suspect of how you're judging teams. No one is saying that the Steelers are as good as the Texans this year, aside from the Steelers faithful. But it's commonly accepted that the Texans are going to be a playoff contender, so if they were almost beaten by the Titans, who's to say that the Steelers are in any worse shape than them.
The Texans didn't even lose the best center in the league, so they don't really have an excuse for such a close game. If the Steelers come out tonight and show they can compete, I think that a lot of the naysayers will be quieted. Even if the Steelers don't win tonight, which they will **Knock on wood**, if they make the game close it shows a lot of promise. Assuming that we'll start Velasco tonight, one week of practice is tough to start on. So he, and the line, should improve as the season progresses.
By the end of this season we could all be looking back on week 1 as an anomaly in a season that ended well.
