Apparently, the ability to get under the skin, inside the heads and act in a manner that otherwise pisses one's opponent off isn't enough anymore for the Rams.
They announced the release of cornerback Cortland Finnegan at the start of free agency Tuesday, adding to the fairly rich talent pool of cornerbacks. The Steelers are allegedly in the market for a cornerback, and not even allegedly, if you look at the depth on the Steelers' roster right now.
With veteran Ike Taylor coming back for the 2014 season on a significantly reduced salary (some say it should have been more), it appears the Steelers will either address the cornerback position in the draft, or in free agency, and maybe both.
Finnegan may not be linked to the Steelers currently, but his inclusion in the free agent pool may quell initial surges after top targets, such as Tennessee's Alterraun Verner and New England's Aqib Talib.
The Steelers had been linked to Verner during the Legal Tampering period, but there hasn't been anything further as of the start of free agency. The Steelers are also rumored to be looking into Nolan Carroll and Captain Munnerlyn.
