Tennessee Titans have a meet scheduled with Al Woods

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

The Steelers have to consider Woods a priority in free agency, given his position flexibility allows the team to fill depth at a low cost. The Steelers have three defensive ends in free agency, Woods, Ziggy Hood and Brett Keisel.

New head coach Ken Whisenhunt is wasting little time assembling his new-look Titans. They signed running back Dexter McCluster Tuesday, and have meetings scheduled with several players, including Steelers defensive lineman Al Woods.

Woods is considered a player the Steelers want to bring back due to his relative youth and versatility along the line. He can play end or tackle, and could be a valuable commodity over the next few seasons.

This doesn't mean the Titans will definitely sign Woods, and perhaps it boosts him into a position of priority for the Steelers as they continue sifting through free agency. Jerricho Cotchery is a reported target for them right now as well, and after Cotchery, Woods could be considered the next most valuable free agent the Steelers have in terms of impact and signability.

The Steelers also allowed Brett Keisel and Ziggy Hood to test the free agency market for their services, meaning they could potentially lose three defensive ends this year. While the ability of all three of them won't exactly shout out All Pro, it will put pressure on the Steelers to bring in experienced 3-4 scheme-ready linemen to compete with the young, inexperienced players on their roster - Nick Williams and Brian Arnfelt.
