Darrelle Revis signs one-year deal with New England Patriots

Another big defensive signing for the AFC, the Patriots replaced Aqib Talib and added a bunch more with the addition of Revis.

And the national media have their talking point for the next several months.

2014 NFL Free Agency

Can't you just hear Cris Collinsworth gushing over this? What will be lost, though, is the unique mix of supreme confidence and sheer stupidity possessed by Revis the business man. Revis the player may be one of the five best players of his generation, but coming off a contract that was, essentially, a series of one-year deals, he signs a one-year deal for $12 million with the Patriots.

Is it because he feels someone will eventually give him a $120 million contract, and he refuses to do anything other than play for one year until then? Or is it simply that he's a financial mercenary for hire, and he'll farm the opponents of whichever team pays him the most until it's time to find new chum?

His reasons are his own, but the certainty here is the Patriots got a lot better in their secondary, and considering the firepower added to the Broncos defense, there's still no chance the national media stop talking about Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
