After watching my Alma Mater, Missouri, play several games this year, I see 3 players in particular I think would be a good fit as Steelers.
1. OLB Michael Sam (played DE in a 4-3 at Mizzou)---This guy is an impact player. Could he bring the heat we were hoping Jarvis Jones would this past season? Perhaps, or he could end up another WIP (Work In Progress) like Jones (or Spence). Would also be valuable IF there is ever a turn towards the 4-3. I'm guessing he'll likely be drafted 1st or 2nd round, but if he's available in Round 3, I think he's a Steeler. Defensive Player of the Year in the SEC.
2. CB E. J. Gaines---He flat out makes plays, whether it's big tackles, defending against the pass or picking off a pass. Plays the game right; seems to always be in the "right place". He's not very big---5'10", 195, but he's stayed with pretty much any receiver I've seen all year; matter of fact, I don't recall a single play where he got "burnt". He'll probably be available 3rd or 4th round, but if the Steelers are impressed with him enough, I'd take him earlier.
3. RB Henry Josey---I goofed up here; thought Josey was a SR., but he's a redshirt junior. He's a small scatback, but he can certainly turn on the afterburners. Watching him reminds me of FWP in his prime, and perhaps Josey is better than that. Blew out his knee against Texas a couple of years ago, so he may be draft Kryptonite next season, but I sure think he'd be worth a look as outside speed (and inside speed if he gets the hole). Unless he comes out, I predict he'll a mid/late round pick for someone in 2015, and a bargain at that.
Look forward to your thoughts.
