NFL Wild Card Final Scores: Colts top Chiefs, Saints over Eagles

Elsa

Shayne Graham was a Pittsburgh Steeler for about a week. He's moved onto bigger things apparently, as he drilled a game-winning field goal for New Orleans in their wild card win over Philadelphia Saturday.

Colts 45, Chiefs 44

In the third-highest scoring playoff game in league history, the Colts came from 28 points down to top the visiting Chiefs 45-44 in the first of two AFC wild card playoff games Saturday.

The 28 point deficit was the second-largest in NFL playoff history, only behind Buffalo's 35-point comeback win over Houston in the 1992 AFC wild card round.

Quarterback Andrew Luck topped all highlights when he recovered a fumble at the goal line and plunged in from five yards out for a touchdown. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton had a Colts franchise playoff records with 13 catches and 224 yards, adding two touchdowns in the victory.

Indianapolis turned the ball over four times, but gained 536 yards - 8.2. yards per play - in the defense-less victory.

Luck is 18-2 all time in games decided by one score or less. This one will be high on his career resume, despite looking downright dreadful at times.

The Chiefs managed their highest scoring playoff game in team history without all-purpose machine Jamaal Charles, who sustained a concussion on the sixth play of the game. The Chiefs have lost seven consecutive playoff games, their last win coming on a 27-24 overtime victory over the Steelers in the 1992 AFC wild card round.

Saints 26, Eagles 24

The Battle of Westlake High School was won by the elder.

New Orleans' Drew Brees, a 1997 graduate of Westlake High School in Westlake, Texas, squared off against 2007 graduate Nick Foles in only the second game two quarterbacks sharing the same alma mater have met in the NFL playoffs (Pittsburgh's Terry Bradshaw defeated Joe Ferguson's Bills in 1974 after the two were consecutive quarterbacks at Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, La.).

Brees got the better of Foles on the strength of Shayne Graham's 32-yard field goal at the end of regulation, giving the Saints the upset victory.

Graham, a Steeler for one short week in 2013 when Shaun Suisham was nursing a hamstring injury (he didn't miss any time), connected on four field goals in the game, just two weeks since signing with the Saints. New Orleans is the 10th team he's played for in his career.

In what was supposed to be a high-octane offensive performance, the key players in this game - LeSean McCoy and Jimmy Graham - were largely limited. McCoy had 77 yards on 21 carries and Graham had three catches for 44 yards on just four targets. It was his second-lowest targeted game this season, with the lowest (three against Buffalo in Week 8 when he was coming off an injury).

New Orleans, the NFC's sixth seed, got their first road playoff win in franchise history, and will travel to Seattle in the NFC divisional round next weekend.

Today

The Cincinnati Bengals look to take their first playoff win in three decades when they host the San Diego Chargers at 1:05 p.m. ET Sunday, and the San Francisco 49ers will take on Green Bay in the bitter cold at 4:05 p.m. ET.
