Hump Day Mix:Time to Circle the Wagons Edition

The natives are restless and there is a tribe rolling in to challenge us. This native will be suited up for the pow wow at the confluence of the three rivers, but for now let us get you over the hump. Sit back and relax as 1BlkGldFan and I talk about last week's win and our up coming contest. We have a couple of lovely young squaws coming out to greet you and help you relax. They will have to do since 1BlkGldFan won't share her ESPN swimsuit photos. Just kidding. She all mine fellas. Without further delay, let's get to it.

Since we have no cheer squad outside of Steeler Nation, we employ a cheerleader from our opponent every week. This we we have the lovely...heck I don't know her name but who needs an name anyhow. Let's just call her Running Fox from the Missouri tribe. Say hello fellas.

Running Fox's friend Swaggy Dove is beauty in action. She apologizes for her team's inability to put the Chargers away last year.

The three lovely ladies and I welcome you.

Notes on last week's game:

Intro for this week's game:

PixburghArn: Right now there has been plenty said about the Chiefs' running game and their red zone success. Their defense is a real concern for me as well. They do very well at keeping teams out of the end zone, especially in the red zone and even more specifically, in goal-to-go situations; More on this below. However, I my opinion a huge key in this game is going to be special teams. Kansas City often capitalizes on their special teams giving them good field position. This is a typical Andy Reid team. I would say Reid's coaching style is conservative. He is not going to take too many chances so assignments for his players don't require much extra thought. There will be wrinkles to content with but this will pretty much be, what you see is what you get. The idea is not to let their special teams make it easy for them.

1BlkGldFan: Heart. That's what last weeks game was. This was something I really was hoping for and something I kind of felt was missing during a few games this season. My beloved Steelers have resolve and I love it!

What we need to do on offense:

PixburghArn: This matchup is kind of strange. It's our strength against theirs. But inside that match up we have a problem scoring in the red zone and specifically near the goal line. As a matter of fact early red zone field goals instead of touchdowns has been a contributor in many of our loses. As I stated above these situations are a strength of their defense. Teams don't score on them often anyways. The bright side of this matchup is the Chiefs' weakness is against the run. There's only one prescription, More Le'veon Bell. I even like more Le'veon Bell in the red zone. I would also like to see a few more shots down the field with Bryant, not DHB. Oh, and make sure you block Houston please.

1BlkGldFan:Ground, pound and wear this Chiefs defense down. Le'Veon Bell....my man, I'd like to see at least 150 yards rushing. Feel free to get as many as you'd like with those nifty and nice little dump off's too.

What we need to on defense:

PixburghArn: I really don't see Andy Reid coming out and trying to exploit the Steelers secondary early in the game. They will try to do what they do. This will play into a strength of ours. It will be the athleticism of our front 7 versus their running game and tight ends. If they aren't up to the task, you won't have to worry about the deep ball. The Chiefs want get the ball out of Alex Smith's hand quickly, so I'm hoping our quickness becomes a problem for them. Bend but don't break may not be the route to go this week. Their offense wants to grind it out and is very good in the red zone. Get off the field defense. If they do get in the red zone, I'm hoping the quickness of our front 7 will be the difference.

1BlkGldFan:It's ride time guys. It's time to stuff Jamal Charles and keep the Chiefs WR's remain touchdownless! (That's amazing to me.... 1 year these guys have gone without a passing touchdown. I guess that's a pretty good reminder to us how blessed we are with a QB. A real QB not named Alex Smith.) The Steelers defense can and needs to step up big. Play the game of your lives guys. Here. We. Go.

Predicted key offensive players:

PixburghArn: My prediction for the offensive player of the game is Le'veon Bell/Ben. Let me explain why I picked these two. I think there will be some shots down the field and I think play action is going to be the key. Bell is going to have some success and force the chiefs' hand, and then Ben will get his. I want to say Ben is going to do what many have not been able to do, pass for over 300 yards. He won't do that unless Bell gets his. I think both will happen. So to break the tie for player of the game, I'll say Ben because even Manning didn't have a lot of yards against the Chiefs.

1BlkGldFan: The Pittsburgh Killer B's (Ben, Bryant, Brown and Bell) could put up some impressive numbers as they seem to be clicking on all cylinders. Let's all hope they stay hot and even turn the heat up a little this week.

Side note- I've always been an Eric Berry fan and I sincerely wish him well as he fights his battle with an opponent far more evil than any player he'll ever face. My prayers continue for him and hope you'll also wish him the best. Steeler Nation Salute.

Predicted key defensive players:

PixburghArn: My predicted defensive player of the game will be Lawrence Timmons. I am even going to go out on a limb and say he gets an INT. I was going to say Shazier, but I'm not sure how much he'll play.

1BlkGldFan:Linebackers! Pressure Alex Smith. I don't care how you guys do it; just do it. If you do.... Willie Gay may just get his 4th fabulous pick 6.

Final predictions (including score):

PixburghArn: My prediction for this game is a tight game in the early going maybe 10-7 either way at the half. The Steelers will explode in the third quarter and lead going into the fourth quarter 27-13. The fourth quarter will tighten it back up but the Steelers prevail 33-27.

1BlkGldFan:All I want for Christmas is a WIN. That.... Is all.
