Irony? Doesn't Matter. It's Time For Payback

Irony will get its day in court this Sunday. This may not seem so ironic to you. Maybe you think I'm abusing the word irony. Maybe in actuality it's not ironic, but hear me out. I remember the Chiefs resting their starters. I remember the non-call that broke my spirit. Maybe what I'm about to write isn't ironic. Regardless, it's time for a payback

Let's talk about a little irony. Last year, my son and I went to one Steelers game. My son came into town to go to an in-law's funeral and tickets to the Dolphins' game were 30 bucks on Stub Hub. This made an unexpected trip from Dayton, Ohio to Heinz Field a must. Like finding a ten dollar bill on the way into McDonald's we went immediately got excited.

Once again my son came in to town unexpectedly. This time it was just to surprise his mother-in-law by showing up a week early for Christmas. We already have tickets to the Bengals game, because I knew he would be in town on the 28th. Since he was in early, I thought I'd check out Stub Hub and add another trip to our holiday plans. BINGO! The right seats for a price I could handle fell into my hands. We are now making an unexpected trip to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers were bringing in a team fighting for its playoff life, in a game that could propel the Steelers right into the middle of the playoff race. The Dolphins started out the season by running off a string of victories, but ran into some problems. Their problems from the middle of the season seemed to be figured out against a division opponent just one week before they came into Pittsburgh. The Steelers had been dealing with inconsistency all year. This pivotal game was also a week before a showdown at home against the Bengals.

Flash forward to this weekend. The Steelers bring in a team fighting for it's playoff life, in a game that could clinch a playoff spot for the Steelers. The Chiefs had an impressive string of wins earlier in the season, only to begin to struggle, but feel like they fixed their problems last week against a division opponent. The Steelers have once again struggled with inconsistency all year. This pivotal game is also a week before a showdown at home against the Bengals.

Once again the game is against the Chiefs. This is the same team that we needed help from last year in week 17 to get in to the playoffs. We can put them out of the playoffs like they did us last year. If we don't beat them, we may need help from the team that beat the Chiefs when we needed help last year. If we don't win, we may need help in week 17 from the team we needed to lose last year (Chargers), playing against the team we needed to win (Chiefs).

It would only work out best if it went this way. The Chargers were given a gift (a playoff berth that belonged to us) from the Chiefs, sending us home for the year. so it would be great to take that gift (a playoff berth that belongs to us) from the Chiefs and technically send both of those chumps home for the year. This would make that game they play week 17, a consolation prize. I'm still mad. You could call this week "The Big Pay Back".

The Big Pay Back!
