Here are some of the players I have wanted the steelers name to be called alongside over the last few years in order from really high on them value wise to being a solid pick nearer the bottom. Obviously several of these went before the steelers chose but with a player like Keuchly surely a trade up for him would have been advantageous, in hindsight.
Here's some players who I think have jumped out as having good value for their projected draft position and display a good amount of potential to become a future star. I admittedly haven't seen much game tape but plan on doing so as soon as I get home to some decent internet ( I work in the North Sea where the internet is poor to non-existent).
Luke Keuchly Russell Wilson Vontaze Burfict La Michael James Honeybadger Eric Reid Marcus Lattimore Ryan swope Bjorn Werner Tyler Eifert. David Decastro Star lotulelei Dontari Poe
And not so high on
Jarvis jones Leveon bell Bruce Irvin RG III David Wilson Gio Bernard Josh Gordon Tavon Austin Brandon Weedon (seriously, if the browns never picked him how far would he have fell ?)
As I'm sure u can see I pay much more attention to the first few rounds than 5,6,7. But tbh a novice like me struggles enough with 3 or 4 rounds the last few I may have a player or 2 I like but basically I'm ignorant of most of the remaining players and their potential.
My buddy laughed at me after RG III's1st season but I said he would be a bust from draft day and I think he is beginning to prove me right. No Hate towards him I wish him all the best just never though he would be a great pro for some reason, spidey senses were tingling. I have since changed my opinion on bell, Gordon and Gio but am still rather weary of jones, hoping he completely invalidates my opinion this coming season. I think Tavon Austin had an unwarranted rise up draft boards due to his combine.
So after me proving my ineptitude here's my list of players, so far, for the upcoming draft. Khalil Mack OLB Anthony Barr OLB Jadeveon Clowney DE Louchiez purify CB Pierre desir CB CJ Fiederowicz TE Dion Bailey FS Darqueze Dennard CB Eric Ebron TE Odell Beckham Jr WR Ryan Shazier ILB Jackson jeffcoat OLB Jordan Tripp OLB Calvin Pryor S Keith McGill S
And here's my first ever mock:
1:15 trade back with For 1:2 and 2: 1:2 Eric Ebron. TE 2:47 Calvin Pryor. S 2: Ryan Shazier. ILB 3:comp Dion Bailey. FS 4: Keith McGill. CB 4:comp Jordan Tripp. OLB 5: T.J Jones. WR 6: Will Clarke. DE 6:comp Roosevelt Nix OLB 7: Ryan Groy. OL
Can anyone tell me why the scouts/gms pay any attention to the combine, seems to me like it just draws them in to more busts and almost certainly a few reaches. If the performance is not their on tape and their size, height and speed aren't obvious on tape then they don't get an interview and then if their personalities aren't right they don't go on the board.
As always with mock drafts the likelihood of even 1 pick being right are slim to none (unless you are a browns fan in which case you can guarantee a few picks are going in the toilet) e and as long as the steelers drafts look good a few years later I'm happy. But it's all just for sh**s and giggles so please inform me of my misevaluation.
