So with the news that everyine got 10 more mil, what will the Steelers do? I have a few ideas, 1 I dont think this really changes too much for us, 2 I think this makes it easier to carry Woodley at full price for another year then make a desecion on him next year.
To explain 1, we still dont/wont have enough money to keep Sanders and JW, and we still have cut, move $ around and extend about 10 players this offseason. Troy, Heath, Heyward, Allen, and Gillbert get new deals since they are 1 year away from FA. Timmons, Ben, and maybe Brown play move $ around. Levi gets cut, and probably so does the beard.
To explain 2, correct me if I am wrong but if we carry Woodley at full price this year we save $ next year if we chose to cut him. Hey who knows maybe he actually stays healthy, probably not but who knows.
With all the same moves and this new found 10 mil, IMO or if I was a GM I would give Hood a very cheap deal (it is what he is worth anyway). Depending on the draft we need players that know the D. I would also go after Demps from KC, why you ask? A. Brown wont have to return kicks/punts anymore and push to be a starter and not so much pressure come draft day.
I would sign Big Red recently cut by the Hawks. He is playing w house $ and shouldnt command much $, by that I mean should cost around 5 mil. He a huge man, good against the run and is younger @27/28 years old. He may bring some swag from SEA with him. He may not be an everydown DL, however a rotation of Ziggy, Red, Al Woods and McClendon would be much improved from last year. I didnt forget about Heyward IMO he is a 3 down player. Again getting Red would put less pressure on us come draft day, and may open the door to a round 1 WR.
