Steelers to host ex-Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Wednesday the Steelers are meeting with veteran running back Maurice Jones-Drew, noting Pittsburgh isn't the only team interested.

The Steelers are in the market for a running back, and former Jaguars' RB Maurice Jones-Drew fits the bill.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Wednesday the Steelers are hosting Jones-Drew, but with other teams interested, it's reasonable to think it'll be a tough sign after just one visit.

Jones-Drew's impressive career has been derailed over the past two seasons after allegations of assault last offseason, declining production due to injury and the fact he's been saddled in Jacksonville during the Blaine Gabbert Era.

Jones-Drew has 1,217 yards in the last two seasons, including an average of 3.4 yards a carry in 2013, the lowest of his eight-year career.

He missed 10 games in 2012 with injury, rushing just 86 times for 414 yards.

Clearly, he'd be a complimentary player in the Steelers' offense, and maybe that sort of role would keep him fresher throughout the year. The Steelers are likely to focus heavily on the utilization of second-year RB Le'Veon Bell, who broke the Steelers' rookie combined yards record with 1,255 last season.
